Welcome to ComicOpa!

First off, I love comics.

I really love comics.

Ever since I graduated from Pepper Street to the Beano, comics have been a part of my life.

Okay, well, there might have been a gap between about 1990 and 1995 that was comics free.

Then I discovered Neil Gaiman and the Sandman series and it was love at first sight.

Since then I’ve read most of the classics from big names like Alan Moore, Grant Morrison and the like but I’ve also discovered some great lesser known titles.

I thought you might like some of them too.

And I was hoping you might share some new ones with me.

I’m also going to include, new releases, reviews, interviews, comic cons, film & TV adaptations.

Sound okay?

Cool.

I hope you enjoy the blog.

ComicOpa!

PS. “Opa!” is a Greek word that kind of defies definition. It expresses joy, an insatiable happiness and exuberance. That’s kind of how I feel when I find a great new comic. So ComicOpa!

I’ll also be sending out promotional material for the series (Images, Page Samples, Book Trailer, etc.). If you’re interested in sharing that material with your readers, please let me know!

  1. Hi again! I started reading comics when I was a tot and they featured on and off when I was growing up. Funnily enough my real love for them started when I first read some of the authors you’ve mentioned, Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing in particular! What are your favorite titles by him? I’m really interested in your blog and I’ll be checking out more of your articles soon!

    • Hey there, thanks or your nice comments again 🙂 I am a big an of Alan Moore. I saw a talk by him at the Edinburgh Book festival a few years ago and he really blew me away with his wit, intelligence and off-beat but very wise views on life, the comics industry and well…everything. I like his sci fi stuff best, so Top Ten and The Ballad of Halo Jones are my top two I’d recommend if you haven’t already read them.

      • Thanks for the recommendation! I’ve read Ballad of Halo Jones, but I’m interested in giving Top Ten a read. It must have been brilliant to see him give a talk – I always enjoyed the views he put forth in his comics. His writing style especially is still among my favorites of all the comic authors that I’ve read. 🙂
